Set Apart by Grace is a blog that I use to journal my thoughts and ideas. It's a means of searching my own heart through writing and seeing God work as He changes my heart.

Elizabeth and Mary
A facinating account can be found in the book of Luke of how Mary went to Elizabeth after her amazing encounter with Gabriel the Angel of the Lord. You remember Gabriel visited Mary to announce that she had found favor with God and that she would give birth to a son named Jesus. Immediatley Mary went to Elizabeth in Judea which was no easy task. Judea would be a trip of 60 to 70 miles. No taxis here! She hoofed it. Once Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting the son she was carrying jumped inside her and she was filled with the Spirit. You see Elizabeth had been visited by Gabriel 6 months prior, and she too was to give birth to a son called John. Elizabeth was barren, not able to conceive, but she too had found favor with God. What is also amazing about these two miracles, was the three months Mary spent with Elizabeth. Can you imagine the woman to woman fellowship that was taking place. The special conversations that would take place looking forward to the birth of their Savior? How they praised and worshipped God together! Especially when Elizabeth's husband could not take part in the conversations. Just two women, encouraging, lifting each other's spirits, praying together, sharing meals etc...What a joy it is to have someone like Mary and Elizabeth where you can turn and be strengthen. To be loved and encouraged in the Lord. These times were special for both of them. Do you have someone you can turn to when you need that special blessing of encouragement? Seek out a more mature Christian of the same sex and spend time with them. The Lord has annoited them with a special gift that I'm sure He will use to help you run your race....
