The Face of God

This morning I decided instead of running by myself I would take our dog Harley on a walk run. As I prepared, he started prancing and dancing around as I put on my running shoes. Harley loves to walk, but he is not a runner. The mornings here in eastern North Carolina can be pretty humid, and this morning was one of those instances where in the first few minutes of activity you are drenched with perspiration. To make matters worse, Harley has a thick black coat. Well, we ended up walking most of the way but it was still enjoyable to spend time with man's best friend and listen to my Ipod that is fully loaded with the latest pod casts of my favorite speakers. As I finished listening to Pastor Mark Driscoll from Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA. the Gaithers started singing the song "Mary Did You Know." For the first time, as I listened to the words of the song did I realize that Mary kissed the face of God every time she kissed baby Jesus goodnight. I wonder what that was like? Can you imagine kissing the face of God? I don't think I could stop once I pulled myself off the floor after falling at His feet. The Holiness of God is something I think about often. Our God is Holy and He so rightly deserves our praise and adoration because He is righteous and just and pure. Thanks Harley for the walk.....
