A Wonderful Wife Who Could Find

33 years ago today I married Sherree Lou Jaeger my childhood classmate who I met in the 5th grade. She was a red headed beauty that we nick named Sherree Jaguar. I was given the name Welches Grape juice and like our nicknames we had nothing in common. We didn't hang together or talked much, instead we chased each other on the playground and showed interest in other things. I was interested in another girl, while she gave her attention to a faster, taller, better looking beau. Both of our fathers were Marines. My dad was an Officer and her dad was a Staff NCO. She had three sisters and no brothers, while my family consisted of one brother and three sisters. Normally after a three year tour in Hawaii, families would pack up and move back to the mainland. Ours packed up and moved to Pennsylvania as the norm, while Sherree's family retired in Hawaii. Her Mom and Dad stayed in Hawaii for a number of years and even after her parents left the islands, Sherree remained and called Hawaii home. Our paths would not cross again until I returned to the islands as a young Marine, some ten years later. Our childhoods went in separate directions but as in all things God had a plan. Young and fresh out of recruit training I was eager to learn all about life. One of things I quickly learned was the need for "credit." So on the advice of several well meaning friends I applied for a Bank of America credit card. Well to make a long story short, Sherree worked at the Bank of Hawaii reviewing credit applications and saw my name come across her desk. She remembered my name from grade school, called me at work, and 3 months later we were married. It was a whirlwind courtship. From our first date, she knocked me off my feet. She was everything I had hoped for in a wife. She was and still is the most caring and beautiful person I know. After so many years apart as kids, God brought us back together as young adults and has kept us together ever since. She has given me three wonderful children, supported me through my first career in the Marines and now is my number one supporter. She is my best friend and loves the Lord with all her heart. She has the gift of hospitality and loves to bake things for other people she meets. She never forgets a birthday and has a knack for remembering off the wall dates. She serves everyone she meets with a great big infectious smile and never forgets a birthday card or anniversary. She is the joy and jewel of my life and I thank God for bringing her into my life. Happy Anniversary honey, I hope you liked the flowers!
