Our youngest son Nathaniel Richard, was officially married yesterday, June 25th at the Catholic Chapel aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. It was a beautiful day for a wedding that was attended by family and friends from across our Nation. Although they have been married for over two years, this ceremony gave them the opportunity amongst family, friends and God, to formally dedicate themselves to each other. The ceremony was very simple but beautiful and I think God was pleased. The Chaplain spoke about love based on 1st Corinthians chapter 13. If we do things for others and don't have love in our hearts, our actions are worthless and we become like a clanging symbol. He also charged each of them to love and cherish each other as Christ loved the church and gave some excellent examples of how to demonstrate that love. The bible tells us in Romans 5:8 that God demonstrated His love for us by giving up His Son to die on the cross, although we were still yet sinners. There was nothing that we had to do to receive this gift, it was freely given to us based on His grace and love for us (Ephesians 2:8-9). After the ceremony concluded we all gathered at the Officer's Club for a early dinner and then enjoyed music and fellowship into the early evening. It was a great day.
