Process of Change

Paul tells us in Romans that we are transformed by the renewing of the mind (Rom 12:2) Richard Foster tells us in his book Celebration of Discipline that "the mind is renewed by applying it to those things that will transform it". So what are those things that will transform it? Again we go back to God's Word, "Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things" (Phil 4:8) The process of change must begin within. What is occupying my time? Is my mind constantly being renewed by the inputs of the world (TV, radio, texting) or do I occupy my mind with the truth which will set me free (John 8:32). Guilty as charged. I need to start concentrating on the things that will last for eternity and put aside those things that hinder my walk with God. Change starts within if we study and apply the Word of God (2 Tim 3:16).
