Whom Do I Serve

Luke writes that we should take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23). Following the example Jesus gave us in serving others, is part of that cross. We should serve others, and I have no problem with that. However, why do I let my wicked heart that is full of pride get in the way? Paul warns us in Galatians by asking the question, "Do I seek the approval of man or God?" (Galatians 1:10) I bring this up because I am constantly comparing myself to others and seeking the approval of man vice God. Do I strive to please God as a secondary reward, only to seek thank-you, and that-a-boys from people who see me serving others. Is this why some people in the church don't volunteer? They don't receive the accolades they expect, hence they figure nobody cares that they care. Hmmm....interesting. I only know what is in my heart and how I must reject the approval of man and seek out the glory of God through serving others. Mark 10:45 gives us the greatest example they we must all follow.
