Set Apart by Grace is a blog that I use to journal my thoughts and ideas. It's a means of searching my own heart through writing and seeing God work as He changes my heart.

Polka Dot Shirt
This past week I had a friend visiting from Connecticut and we had some very long discussions about team work. Although my friend is a few years younger than me, his wisdom astonishes me about life in general. He has the keen ability to read people. He has observed me at work, home, and at church. Although he didn't have much to say about church, except why we didn't allow women in leadership positions; I'll leave that post for another day. Anyhow, he asked me a question about why I worry about what people think of me. Why do I focus so much on how my actions will affect others. If I want to do something, why do I worry about what others might think? If you want to wear a polka dot shirt, wear it!! Don't be concerned about what people say or think. I think he is right in a way. Life is to short to worry about the little things in life. Now I am not a proponent of if it feels good do it mentality, what I am saying is, I should not seek the affirmation of others so much. If I feel strongly about something, do it....don't be afraid of what others might think or say. If I go through life constantly changing my mind because of what I think others might say, I'll never accomplish anything, and I will continue to second guess myself.
