There are so many things that have happened in 2008. The highlight was the birth of our first grandchild Luke, but with that said, 2009 has his Dad a United States Marine moving to Kailua, Hawaii in a few short months. God has used Luke in my life like you would not believe. The whole world can rush around me at warp speed, but when those little arms reach up to grab his "Pappy" I melt with emotion. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before. I will miss that little rascal, but we look forward to visiting him next Christmas. They have moved in with us awaiting their orders to move and we are cherishing the time we get to spend with him on a daily basis. The low point of the year was the diagnosis of a heart condition that would have me sitting on pins and needles for 6 months not able to exercise (run), which has caused me to put on some weight. Although I stopped exercising, I didn't stop eating. I don't make New Years resolutions, but this year I might have to make an exception and make a promise to lose some excess "fat." This year has also seen me draw nearer to the Lord. Romans 8:38-39 has rung true in my life. I've also become "poddy" trained this year! No really, my kids bought me an Ipod and I've downloaded so many pod casts from various bible teachers. My favorite so far is Erwin McManus, he is so "right on" with today's society and the way to reach them with the Gospel. A favorite book that I have read this year was also from McManus called Wide Awake. Do not read this book is you are comfortable with average. That's all I'll say about that. But, I am reading everything that he has written. Someday I hope to meet him. Well I need to post this now, as we are getting ready to attend our Christmas Eve service. See you in 2009.
